  • A widower falls in love with his home aid. His middle age-aged daughter does not approve of the relationship. Since Howard, 75, retired his job as sea captain, his daughter Grace has visited regularly. But Howard is stubborn in his isolation and doesn’t want any “help”. When Grace hires him domestic help, Annie, Howard is at first reluctant and hostile. Grace loses her job as a nurse and her husband is divorcing her. She tells Annie that her employment will soon end. She has applied for Howard to stay at a home for the elderly. When Howard learns about that, he asks Annie to move in. They fall in love, and Grace can’t take this. She feels like she’s again losing a father she never had. She wants to win him back.

Director’s Statement: My Sailor, My Love is a film about the need of three people to be loved and to get a second chance in life. The joy and energy of this film comes from this happiness of being loved. But also the anger and disappointment that love can easily turn into once rejected. We are accustomed to seeing love stories about how love warms or hurts a person when it’s experienced for the first time. But how does it feel when a person knows with certainty that it’s the last time?
